Living over loss.

A 12-week cohort for those carrying grief that doesn't hand itself back easily, built from Nancy's caregiver years, written for the long after.

Sunset over the ocean

Why this exists

Grief doesn't end. It changes shape.

After Dan died, the casseroles stopped. The cards stopped. The text messages stopped. The grief did not. We made Living over Loss for the part of grief that nobody warns you about, the long, quiet after, when the people around you have moved on and you're still standing in the same kitchen wondering how to be.

It's not therapy. It's not a support group, exactly. It's a cohort of people in similar territory, walking together with Nancy as facilitator, for twelve weeks, with a clear shape and no pretense of resolution.

The 12-week arc

What the cohort actually does.

Weeks 1–3

Landing here.

Naming what you've lost, what you didn't expect to lose, and where you actually are right now.

Weeks 4–6

The long after.

Reading, writing, and conversation about the chapters of grief no one teaches you to expect.

Weeks 7–9

Living over it.

Practices that let you keep moving without pretending you've moved past it. This is the heart of the work.

Weeks 10–12

Going on.

A close that doesn't pretend to be an ending. A plan for the year you walk into next.

“I came in thinking I needed to be fixed. I left having been listened to. That turned out to be different and better.”

Practical questions

Before you sign up.

Who is this for?
Anyone carrying loss that has outlived the casserole brigade, bereavement, divorce, the slow loss of a loved one to illness, the loss of a community. You don't need to be religious to join, but the work is shaped by scripture and prayer.
How does it meet?
Twelve consecutive Tuesday evenings, 7:00–8:30 PM Eastern, via video call. Between sessions, light reading and a 15-minute writing prompt. Total commitment is about 2 hours a week.
How big is the cohort?
We cap each cohort at 10 participants so everyone has room to speak. We run 2–3 cohorts a year.
What does it cost?
$240 for the full 12 weeks, including all materials. We offer sliding-scale spots, just ask. No one is turned away for cost.
Is this therapy?
No. Nancy is a facilitator, not a licensed therapist. Living over Loss is a complement to grief counseling, not a replacement. We're happy to recommend therapists if that's what you need.
